Funding is something almost all third sector groups are looking for, whether it’s for day to day running costs, or to improve services, or funding for a specific project. But it’s also one of the most problematic areas, as groups struggle just to survive in these economically straitened times.
Much as we would like to, CTSI cannot secure you funding! We can, however, help you find and identify possible funding sources. These might be charitable trusts, funding from statutory sources such as government or local authority, or one of the lottery funding streams.

COMMUNITY
AVIVA – Community Fund – gives causes access to volunteers, as well as tools and resources to help build their capabilities and achieve long-term sustainable success.
THE NATIONAL LOTTERY COMMUNITY FUND – Community Action – awarding grants of £20,001 – £250,000 for up to 5 years, Community Action will support projects that help communities of all shapes and sizes to come together around activities that matter to them, or which help communities to be environmentally sustainable.
THE NATIONAL LOTTERY COMMUNITY FUND – Strengthening Organisations – for organisations in Scotland, that National Lottery Community Fund (TNLCF) currently funds, to support organisations to try out new ideas and ways of working.
MORRISONS – Grant Funding – supports registered charities delivering projects which help to improve people’s lives in communities across England, Scotland and Wales. The funding objectives are tackling poverty and social deprivation, enhancing community spaces/facilities/services, improving health and wellbeing.
SCOTMID – Community Grant Scheme – invites applications for up to £500 from local community, self-help and voluntary groups, charities and individuals acting for the benefit of the local community, whose projects address a community issue or support a local community initiative.
ARNOLD CLARK – Community Fund – supports local community projects across the UK, providing financial assistance to initiatives that aim to make a positive impact on communities.
THE LANG FOUNDATION – Small Grants – over the years The Foundation has supported many good causes large and small including sick children’s charities, care homes, cancer charities, youth clubs, rotary clubs, theatre clubs, local town associations, school fundraising efforts for disabled pupils and school musicians groups.
TRUSTHOUSE CHARITABLE FOUNDATION – Small Grants – gives grants for running costs to charities and not-for-profit organisations under the overarching themes of Rural Issues and Urban Deprivation.
VICTIM SUPPORT SCOTLAND – Victim’s Fund – open to people affected by crime across Scotland, who are in urgent need of financial help as a result of what they have experienced.
CLACKMANNANSHIRE COUNCIL & STIRLING COUNCIL – Clackmannanshire and Stirling Environment Trust – offering funding to projects through the Scottish Landfill Communities Fund including: land reclamation, community recycling, public amenities and parks, biodiversity and historic buildings.
KINGDOM HOUSING ASSOCIATION – Community Initiatives Fund – supports projects in the communities where The Kingdom Housing Association operates, e.g. community projects, training, employment, energy efficiency, environment, education, and public art.
CFSLA – Payroll Lottery – offering assistance to charity and community groups within the boundaries of Clackmannanshire, Falkirk and Stirling council areas (and national and international charities within specified limits.)
SEAD – Scottish Education and Action for Development Fund – provides small grants for individuals or groups for positive action, and campaigning with focus on women’s rights, young people and their global rights, climate justice, inequality, poverty and health justice.
TURCAN CONNELL – Hugh Fraser Foundation – supports charities working in many different sectors including medical research, hospitals, education, organisations working with the young and aged, the handicapped and the under-privileged and arts organisations.
CLACKMANNANSHIRE COUNCIL – Community Grant – offering financial assistance to local areas to help fund one community celebration each year, e.g. local gala committee.
FORTH VALLEY & LOMOND CLLD – Community Led Local Development 2025/26 -supporting projects based in rural Stirling, Clackmannanshire and West Dunbartonshire which prioritise sustainable economic actions, resilient and smart communities, partnership working, addressing inequalities & social inclusion, responding to the Climate Emergency.
ROBERTSON TRUST – Wee Grants, Small Grants, Large Grants, Transport Grants, and Community Spaces – supporting organisations who support people who are experiencing (or are at high risk of experiencing) poverty and trauma.
SAFEDEPOSITS SCOTLAND – Community Fund – SafeDeposits Scotland, the country’s leading tenancy deposit protection scheme, has introduced a Community Fund designed to provide small grants to projects enhancing communities across Scotland.
B&Q FOUNDATION – Grants – Grants to help charities who are supporting people in need in the UK – those experiencing homelessness, in financial hardship, impacted by health, disability, or other disadvantage or distress.
INDEPENDENT LIVING FUND SCOTLAND – Independent Living Fund – Helps young disabled persons aged 16-25 to support trying new activities and experiences.
VINEHILL TRUST – Grants – The Vinehill Trust makes grants to charitable, educational and ecclesiastical organisations in the areas of music, heritage, and health.
FAMILY
THE NATIONAL LOTTERY COMMUNITY FUND – Fairer Life Chances – Awarding grants of £20,001 – £500,000 for up to 5 years, Fairer Life Chances will fund projects that support children, young people and families, or that help people to be healthier and have better access to support.
FAMILY FUND – Grants – provides a wide range of grants to families living in Scotland raising a disabled or seriously ill child, or young person, on a low income.
BUTTLE UK – Chances For Children – individually tailored grants of up to £2,400 for children and young people who have experienced a crisis that has recently had a significant and enduring impact on their wellbeing and educational engagement.
TOY TRUST – Grant Scheme – offers grants to UK registered charities, for projects working with disadvantaged children aged 13 and under.
TRUSTHOUSE CHARITABLE FOUNDATION – Major Grants – gives preference for front line organisations working directly with families in need with a focus on Family Support.
THE SQUEEZE – Family & Individual Small Grants – priority areas are lone parents, families with a disabled adult or child, younger mothers (under 25 years old), families with a baby (under 1), minority families, larger families with 3 or more children.
ABERLOUR – Urgent Assistance Fund – for families with children (aged 21 and under) who are suffering extreme hardship, e.g. struggling to provide food, heating and clothing for their children.
CASH FOR KIDS – Holiday Hunger Grants – aims to help address child poverty through funding nutritious meals, activities, staffing costs, and equipment.
YOUTH
YOUTH SCOTLAND – What’s Your Big Idea?! – young people can apply for a small amount of funding to help get an exciting idea off the ground, e.g. starting a new youth group project, or a cool idea they’ve been thinking about to make more money or develop a new skill.
HAYS TRAVEL FOUNDATION – Grants – supports children and young people through education, sport, advancement of health, arts and culture and the prevention of poverty.
NATIONAL LOTTERY COMMUNITY FUND – Young Start – offering funding from £20,001 to £100,000 to help children and young people across Scotland become more confident, so they can realise their own potential.
THE7STARS FOUNDATION – Various Funds – grants are targeted to further the potential and opportunity of children and young people who are surviving abuse, at risk of or experiencing homelessness, caring for a loved one, and challenged by addiction (either personally or through a member of their family).
BBC CHILDREN IN NEED – Core Costs Funding – for organisations that put children and young people at the centre of everything they do, addressing the challenges that children and young people face.
TESCO/GREENSPACE SCOTLAND – Stronger Starts – priority is given to projects that provide healthy food and/or activities that boost children and young people’s mental and physical wellbeing, but groups can apply for all different types of projects. It is the blue token voting scheme that you may see in Tesco stores.
COST OF LIVING
UTILITA GIVING – Helping Hand Fund – the fund is currently open to Utilita Energy legacy credit customers only to provide a grant to help clear or decrease energy debt.
HEALTH
WALKING SCOTLAND – Ian Findlay Path Fund – supports the improvement of local path networks within and between communities, making it easier for people to choose to walk, wheel or cycle for everyday journeys.
PARKINSON’S UK – Physical Activity Grants – Supports the development of more physical activity opportunities for people with Parkinson’s in their local area that are fun and enjoyable.
ARTS
CREATIVE SCOTLAND – Open Fund for Individuals – supports the wide range of activity initiated by artists, writers, producers and other creative practitioners in Scotland.
CREATIVE SCOTLAND – Screen Education Fund – funding to increase abilities in and access to screen education across Scotland.
CULTURE & BUSINESS SCOTLAND – C&BS Fund – supports innovative and mutually beneficial partnerships between Scottish businesses and arts and heritage organisations, to deliver new arts and heritage projects.
FIGURATIVE – Arts & Culture Impact Fund – an £18 million social impact investment fund for socially driven arts, culture and heritage organisations registered and operating in the UK.
JOHN ELLERMAN FOUNDATION – Grant Scheme – aims to advance the wellbeing of people, society and the natural world by focusing on the arts, environment and social action.
ENVIRONMENT
HISTORIC ENVIRONMENT SCOTLAND – Grants Programme – supports a wide range of projects which relate to and will benefit Scotland’s historic environment.
LANTRA – Next Generation Practical Training Fund – aims to support new entrants to farming (less than 5 years) by providing up to £500 per course for skills development, training on the practicalities of agriculture and sustainability skills.
VOLUNTEERING MATTERS – Action Earth – offers grants to help urban communities to respond to our nature and climate crises.
Firstport – Build It – for social enterprises with a track record of trading and social impact, that need salaried positions to take the business to the next level of financial sustainability.
Firstport – Start It – is designed to help new social entrepreneurs pay for start-up costs up to £5,000.
Firstport – Step Up – Loans of up to £30,000 for early and growth stage social enterprises at 0% interest.
Foundation Scotland – Investing in Enterprise Fund – offering blended grant and loan investment to social enterprises, community organisations and charities working within the 13 eligible areas.
UnLtd – Starting Up – grants for new enterprises of up to £8,000 for social venture costs.
UnLtd – Scaling Up – grants for existing financially sustainable ventures of up to £18,000 for both social venture costs and entrepreneur living costs
