Voluntary Action Fund: Volunteering Support Grant
The Voluntary Action Fund (VAF) is pleased to announce additional funding to help third sector organisations with an annual income of under £250,000 create new or enhanced volunteering projects. The Volunteering Support Grant (VSG), funded by the Scottish Government, will enable organisations to increase the diversity of their volunteer pool while also improving opportunities for skills and personal development through volunteering. Grants are available of up to £10,000.
The VSG places emphasis on developing new volunteering opportunities for people experiencing disadvantage, enabling them to benefit from a meaningful volunteering opportunity, through training, learning new skills, and participating more in their local community. Eligible third sector organisations working in Scotland who want to enhance their services and improve their capacity to deploy, support and train volunteers are encouraged to apply. Applications are also welcome from organisations with little experience of volunteering. The deadline for applications is 27 February 2015.
Chris Smith, Volunteering and Community Grants Manager at VAF said, “In previous rounds, a huge variety of charitable organisations benefited from the fund by recruiting additional volunteers, involving a more diverse group of people in their work, and increasing their capacity to deliver vital services. It has enabled them to increase the support available to volunteers and to invest in their training, so they can provide a more effective and consistent service to their service users.”
Further information, including application forms and guidance notes with eligibility criteria and targets for this grant, is available on the VAF website www.vaf.org.uk.
