Former offshore powerboat racer and three-times National Championship winner, John Young wanted to bring the world of powerboats that he loved to young people with barriers and pass on his skills to others. To do that he established in Alloa a social enterprise, Vital Sparks Racing CIC. John has been supported by CTSI through that journey, helping him fill in the relevant CIC forms and apply for start-up social entrepreneur funding from Firstport. John is a now a regular member of the Forth Valley SEN and also has strong links to other third sector groups in Clackmannanshire including APEX who are providing his first trainees and Alloa Community Enterprises, whose warehouse he is operating his pilot programme from. He is currently working on upgrading a powerboat and next will be building a trailer through the pilot stage and is now seeking funding now from the next stage, Build-it fund.
