NHS Health Scotland launches the Place Standard tool
The NHS Health Scotland Place Standard tool is a simple framework that can be used to have conversations about place and community. It helps people identify aspects of a place that need to be looked at in detail to improve people’s health, wellbeing and quality of life.
There are 14 questions about the physical and social aspects of a place. People rank look at the environment and say what needs to be improved and what doesn’t.
- the physical environment – the buildings, streets, public spaces and natural spaces that make up a place
- the social environment – the relationships, social contact and support networks that make up a community.
It is available on the NHS Health Scotland website http://www.healthscotland.scot/tools-and-resources/the-place-standard-tool
